New launched Research Group “RealPEP”
In 2019 RealPEP (funded by the German Research Foundation, DFG) started.
Near-Realtime Quantitative Precipitation Estimation and Prediction (RealPEP) focuses on precipitation estimation with weather radars and wants to combine the precipitation estimation with numerical weather models especially for nowcasting. The gap between numerical weather models, nowcasting and observations plays an important role as forecast models fail due to their spin up time. The focus lies on seamless predictions from observation to days ahead.
