Bonn becomes new location of the EU weather center ECMWF

The European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) will move from the UK to Germany in 2021, together with its approximately 150 employees. Bonn prevailed over Barcelona in the decisive selection round.
The decision strengthens Bonn as a center of excellence and is trendsetting for the University of Bonn and its partners in the region.
The Geoverbund congratulates Bonn and all its partners, especially its members involved through the newly established CESOC.
